I was happy going ahead with Protection One as my security provider but only about like 2 weeks after 2GIG came out with their new GC3 control panel. Protection One wasn't giving an upgrade and I was pretty adamant that I didn't want the old 2GIG panel when a new one came out so I had to switch providers. Protection One strong-arms customers when they need to make any changes to their service. Locking them into longer, new, contracts. They do not honor their word or their contracts. They like to pick and choose which contract they want to honor, as long as it suits them. I Canceled my Contract in Jan.2016. They still continue to withdraw money from my checking account even though there is no Auto Pay on account. RUN! RUN! RUN! If i actually got someone on the phone I was switched 14 times. I ask to switch the last 6 months of my contract from my rental property to my primary home. The will tell it's easy but now you get the catch, not only are they not good to their word the last conversation was when its switched you'll have to re-sigh a 3 year contract. My company was with Protection 1 for 6 years. Not one time did anyone ever come out to do service. When we started having problems with the alarm, still no one came out. Then when we had enough and switched services, we received two more bills AFTER THAT DATE. Do not waste your time or your trust with these people. Stuck in a 5 YEAR contract with this company. Have had to disable the system because of all the false alarms. Most recently had the fire department show up because I was trying to change the batteries on the smoke detector. Even after I told protection one the situation they sent the fire trucks anyway. Cost $700 to get out of the contract. Wish I was a lawyer. Hate this company!!!!! Add comment

No clear contract with these people, poor customer service, and equipment failure. Our battery inside the system panel needs replacing however the batteries have been discontinued and cannot be found anywhere locally or on the web. We were forced to turn go unprotected until we could get set up by an alternate security company. Of course now they don't want to let us out of our former ASG contract, despite never having signed any agreement... Read more

I had my cameras removed from rental property. They told me I was out of contract, so I had them removed. I got a call, several months later, from a collection agency saying I owed $700 and they turned me over to collections. I asked the collection guy, who said that he sent me a letter, what address he sent it to, guess what, it was to my rentals. I have never received a bill at my renters address. Protection One will attempt to keep you on the hook for service no matter whom you speak to or how many letters you send canceling service . I have not had service for over a year with this company. The system was installed poorly and continually went off in the middle of the night . Finally a tech had me with a flashlight and screwdriver disconnecting it myself at 2am. Finally fed up I called and canceled explaining the constant problems.... Read more

I purchased a home with the security system already in place. As a single woman I signed on to the service and was never told that there was a three year service contract.
