Protection One CLAIMS I OWE MONEY - ACCOUNT CURRENT
To date, I have heard nothing from the company.
When we were notified that Protection One had taken over from ASG, I ordered an upgrade to the equipment. We paid an initial $189.00 and had our monthly charges automatically deducted from our account.
Today I received notice from Protection One that our account is past due in the amount of $95.45. I sent them a copy of our bank statement showing we are up to date.
As a result, I emailed the company and demanded they cancel our account and come to my house to take their equipment. I will not deal with a company that chooses to extort their customers.
Reason of review: Problems with payment.
Monetary Loss: $189.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
Protection One Pros: Equipment.
Protection One Cons: Dishonest company.
Location: Killeen, Texas

Here's the finale to my complaint about this joke of a company. On September 20, 2016, I received the past due notice dated September 14, 2016 with the clear threat that my account was in jeopardy unless I paid the $95.45 immediately.
This, of course, was the first I EVER heard of any amount due beyond what is automatically debited from my checking account. Their representative NEVER stated that the billing department sent this in error. She merely stated I signed a contract that stipulated I was responsible for the taxes. Of course, I have no problem with paying the taxes, however, she didn't seem to understand that this was the FIRST time I received notice about the taxes.
On September 23, 2016, I received a statement dated September 7, 2016 with the amount of taxes due ($38.08). I will assume the statement was sent in advance of the past due notice (which I doubt) and the mail on the former was just slow. However, why would a company send a statement, and then wait only 7 days after they mailed it to send a past due notice on that statement? Clearly, Protection One's billing department is at fault, however, their representative REFUSED to acknowledge the error and apologize.
She simply placed the blame on me. This would have turned out a lot different had Ms. Hernandez apologized for the company's error. I would have just paid the money and forgot the incident.
However, since blame has been put on me, I have chosen to review this company on (so far) 6 consumer review websites.
This, folks, is the type of crooked company I am dealing with. Caveat Emptor.
